Badminton gives me a reason to hold my head high – My Take by para-shuttler Prem Kumar Ale


Prem Kumar Ale was a soldier in the Indian Army. When he suffered severe spinal injuries in an accident. A speeding bus hit him & he became a paraplegic. Battled intense depression & loneliness over this unexpected turn. Then discovered badminton while undergoing rehab. Started practising regularly & qualified for the nationals. Won a gold there in doubles, & never looked back. Has 13 gold medals, 7 silver & a bronze to his credit. Now training for the Asian Para Games in October. Prem says badminton has given him
a chance to stand for India once again.
