Badminton is a Great way to Stay in Shape and Meet New People


Winter is the time for hockey when fans can’t
keep their eyes off the ice. But there are those who commit to a sport
that keeps their focus on the sky. Birdie Bashers Badminton Enthusiast With birdies flying rackets swinging and people
shouting these courts are something some athletes look forward to every week. Darian, Birdie Basher I love it I know that
I get to see Jamie and its right after work so its just kind of our Monday night get together. Their game is Badminton — a sport many consider
to be just your average summer activity. With intramural games being held every week
at the University of North Dakota these students know what it takes to come away with the W. Ben Bolduc, Badminton Enthusiast When you’re
on the court it’s a lot of fun it makes you feel like your practice is worth it especially

Badminton Enthusiasts participate in the sport they enjoy so much � they have to remember

and you got an A if you beat the gym teacher so I took it pretty seriously thought that
was pretty much my only way to get an A in the class. Not only is badminton a good way to stay in
shape it’s also a great way to have fun — meet people — and learn about a new sport. Darian Hedland I thought badminton was super
laid back and chill but you get a good workout in and it’s really fast paced. Jamie and I
like to have fun so we’re always laughing and giggling. Unlike other sports like Football hockey–
and soccer where the players must have more endurance — in badminton you need something
a little different. Ben Bolduc, Badminton Enthusiast Less endurance
and more just hand eye coordination and reflexes that’s pretty important for badminton. As their love for this traditional lawn game
grows — these athletes stay healthy and keep their spirits soaring. I’m Nicholas Moen reporting for Studio One. Intramural badminton matches are best two
out of three and support both singles and double teams. Supervisors say any skill level can get involved. And that’s the sports story for today’s show.
