Bangladesh: A new voice for garment workers


Freedom of association and
collective bargaining is an important issue that has come into sharp attention
after (the) Rana Plaza collapse. Lack of collective voice is an issue; (the) ILO is working with (the) tripartite partners – employers, workers and the government. We are happy to see that 134 new trade unions have been registered
during the last 15 months, as opposed to just two unions
in the preceding 3 years. This is a significant change. International Labour Organization (ILO)
