How to Short Serve | Badminton Lessons

Another variation of the serve is your short
serve. Compared to the long serve, the short serve
is actually a much softer shot in which the player serves diagonally to the opponent,
the shuttle just clears the net and it falls directly behind the opponent’s service line. We’re going to have Shabing demonstrate the
short serve. Right now, what Shabing is doing is the short
serve on the forehand side. Now, he’s going to demonstrate the short serve
on the backhand side, which is used for both doubles and singles. You will notice that great care has to be
taken in ensure that the shuttle does not go too high above the net, or else the opponent
could smash the shuttle downward. That’s your classic short serve.
