News 8 Sports Round Up – March 13th, 2018

The path to state for the Bangor boys basketball team included wins over Royall and Southwestern. Back in 1936. …the last time the program advanced to state. it took big wins over the likes of Camp Douglas, Barneveld, and Norwalk. Many times since then the Cardinals were close to returning to state. but 82-years later they finally accomplished the feat. It’s something special. It’s a testament to the coaching staff and the kids that we have. Hard work will pay off and hopefully younger kids see that. I’d say the program has come a long way. When I was little watching games here and now growing up and living this. I’d say the program is in good hands right now. Each year we try to get a little bit better. We’ve been very, very close the past couple of years. We are definitely taking another step this year. It’s a matter of continuing to do the things that make us successful. Many seniors on the championship winning Aquinas Blugolds team will now look to win at the next level. while staying right here in La Crosse. The school today holding…. . a signing ceremony for Madessa Collins. as she will attend Viterbo University. Three other seniors plan on playing for the UW-La Crosse program. Jessa Peterson, Whittni Rezin, and Kyah Steiner. Should add a fun twist to the rivalry between the two La Crosse colleges. It’ll definitely be a fun game that’s for sure. It’ll be the first time in a while that we played against each other. I think all of us will enjoy it. We’re all going to be rooting for each other on the court. Will definitely be fun to see how each of us has grown differently when we play against each other. I think it’s great that these kids are electing to play basketball in college and then to go to two really good schools locally I think that’s awesome.
