Volleyball – Aubrey Sultemeier Interview (9-5-18)

Alright Aubrey off to a pretty good start so far for your freshman career here at Ole Miss. What do you think you’ve been doing well that’s been able to help you be successful so far? Well, I think definitely like with the help of my teammates, they’ve been really good at like boosting me up, like keeping me confident out there. And I just really think that with their help, like I’ve been able to stay consistent and do my job pretty well. Yeah, you already mentioned your teammates, Nayo and Bayleigh all having impact out of the middle. What’s it been like working with them? How fun is it whenever you see someone come in and they’re able to change a match like they have been able to do so? I really enjoy working with them, they’re both really, really strong middles, so like being able to have them on the same team as me on my side and competing against me in practice it really helps make me better being able to be with some like really good people in my same position. Well when you think about the competition you’ve seen, through two weeks. Three Power five teams up in Aims, Iowa. You come back here, win a home tournament. This team’s gotten off to a pretty good start so far. What would you attest to what’s made this team be successful through two weeks of play? I think definitely we’ve just figured out that when we’re firing on all cylinders as a team, working together, and all of our little pieces are coming together, I think we do really well when we get good passes, our hitters are able to put the ball away. And I just think whenever we’re working together as a team and competing, being aggressive, talking it really helps us be able to be successful. Obviously for your first time at home too in front of the home crowd, it’s got to feel good to win a tournament, be named to an All-Tournament team. What was it like this weekend playing at home and bringing home the title? It was super fun. It was a great experience. My parents we able to come down to see me play. So I had them here, had the crowd, it was everything. It was definitely super, super fun. Now heading on the road to Atlanta, what does this team got to do. What did they learn this past weekend as you win a championship now, moving on to another team’s tournament? What did you guys learn that you could take with you? Um, I definitely think that we just learned that we need to make sure we’re staying confident, you know, when we make a few errors, we need to just like move on to the next ball, keep playing hard, keep swinging at balls, and putting them away. Like we just need to continue to work hard through different types of adversity that we face.
