Advanced Badminton Techniques : How to Hit a Flick Serve in Badminton

The flick serve is a variant of the backhand
serve. The goal of the flick serve, is to do a fast backhand strike, of the shuttle,
in order to lob your opponent, and have the shuttle fall on the doubles service line,
at the back of the court. The grip on the racket, is identical to the one demonstrated
for the backhand serve. Position of the body, is identical. The goal is to not show your
opponent which type of serve you’re going to do, try to the stroke, so the stroke is
identical, but instead of doing a gentle stroke, just to flick the shuttle over the net, I’m
going to do a power stroke to flick the shuttle, at the back of the net.

  1. wrong, he's still hitting it at the waist

  2. Wrong, it is illegal. The below the waist rule is not where the racket is positioned but where the contact is being made. And obviously, he is hitting above his waist.

I have went over couple of his videos, although some of the concept taugh is correct. But it is quite inappropriate that player at such level are being call as "expert".

  3. wow he is really bad at that im 13 and can serve much much better!!!

  5. lmao wtfm hes so noob.. Its not even fast and high

  6. I need help… I tend to miss very high balls.. But all my other stuffs are good i just tend to miss when people serve very high for me..

  7. You are right. he does pull it the shuttle up a bit. Sometimes the upward is very slight and other times it is a bit more pronounced and illegal.

  8. The waist has been defined by the bottom rib in the current laws of badminton. Some of his serves were not legal.

  9. grandpa goes wild at the court

  10. Terrible technique!

To clarify on his racket position, the rule states that the racket shaft be pointing in a downward position (i.e. racket handle has to be higher than racket head), with the racket head below the servers waist. Furthermore the whole of the shuttle must also be below the servers waist at point of impact.

"The waist shall be considered to be an imaginary line round the body, level with the lowest part of the server's bottom rib
