Ghosts, Guns, and Girls! – 24 Hours of Nintendo Games

Do you like video games? Do you like charity?
Do you like… me? Well I will be playing video games for charity
this weekend. That’s right, once again I will be participating in the Extra-Life video game
marathon to raise money for the Rady Children’s Hospital here in San Diego. This Saturday,
Nov. 7th starting at noon PST, I will stream video games for 24-hours straight. If you’d
like to watch, head over to my Twitch channel at twitch.tv/andreweisen and click the “Follow”
button. If you’d like to make a pledge, go to extra-life.org/participant/andreweisen
and click the big, blue “Support Me” button. Your donation is tax deductible and every
penny goes to helping hospitalized kids. So, what games will I be playing? Well, for
the first couple hours I’ll be playing Geist, a supernatural first person shooter for the
Gamecube where you play as a ghost with the power to possess people and objects. Yep,
this is the game where you possess a bowl of dog food to scare the crap out of a German
Shepard so you can possess it and bark at the guard until he lets you out of the room
you’re stuck in. It’s also the game where you defeat an enemy chucking grenades at you
from behind a riot shield by possessing the grenades, rolling them behind the shield and
exploding them under his butt. Next is WinBack for the Nintendo 64, one of
the earliest cover-based shooters. I loved this game back in the day so it’ll be interesting
to see how well it holds up. After that is the main event, Sakura Wars,
a dating sim crossed with a strategy RPG from the developer that gave us the awesome Skies
of Arcadia and Valkyria Chronicles. In Sakura Wars, you work to build a trusting
relationship with the women of the New York Combat Revue Star Division then join them
in battle, piloting transforming, mechanized battle suits to fight off an army of invading
robots! In conclusion, 24-hours of video games to
raise money for the Rady Children’s Hospital. This Saturday, Nov. 7th starting at noon PST.
Watch here, donate here. See ya there!
