How To EASILY Improve Your Controller Shotgun Aim! (Fortnite PS4 + Xbox Shotgun Tips)

Hey what is going on guys, in this video today
we’re gonna be going over the best ways to practice and improve your shotgun aim in Fortnite.
I’d thinks it’s pretty widely agreed on that shotgun aim is hands down the single most
important aspect of aiming in Fortnite. If you miss a few AR or SMG shots it definitely
isn’t a good thing, but it also isn’t the end of the world in most fights. However,
if you miss 1 or 2 shotguns shots, you’re missing out of hundreds of potential damage,
and a lot of times that’s gonna the difference between getting a kill or dying. Unfortunately
one of the main reasons shotgun aim is so important is because it’s a pretty difficult
skill to learn. Sure there are definitely some tips ranging from basic to advanced that
will help you, but much like every other aspect of aiming, a lot of skill simply comes down
to practicing and continuing to improve. Unfortunately, even though playing regular battle royale
matches will help you a bit, it’s nowhere near the best way to improve a mechanic like
shotgun aim. In a full 20-25 minute match, if you’re lucky you’ll get into maybe 4-5
different shotgun fights specifically and that’s not very many at all honestly. So the
point of this video is to showcase the better methods of training that will help you improve
your shotgun aim much faster, and without further ado let’s get right into it. Alright so I wanna break this video down into
2 sections pretty much, the first will be the best ways to practice your shotgun aim
when you’re playing alone, and the 2nd will be the best ways to practice your shotgun
aim with friends. So starting off with the options while playing alone, a few days ago
I found an absolutely incredibly shotgun aim training course that I think is easily one
of the best ways to improve your aim. And since I’ve been playing on console the last
few days preparing for the celebration cup, this is the main way I’ve been trying to get
my shotgun aim back up to par compared to how it is on PC. So, the course is by a guy
named richytoons and I’ll include the code somewhere on the screen right now. So there’s
3 different kinda minigames in this course but I really only use 2 of them. The first
one is relatively simple, you’ll be placed in a squared off area with a wall in front
of you, to your left, and to your right. Once you start the minigame a sentry will spawn
behind one of the walls at random, so you’ll have to preform an edit then shoot it. And
each time you kill one of them it will respawn again behind any of the 3 walls. There’s a
few different things I really like about this. First off, unlike a lot of aiming courses,
this sentry is gonna be bouncing around all over the place which is really good training
for the movement techniques that players will use in a real game. Second, if you do this
exercise properly you’ll be working on a very important aspect of shotgun aim that doesn’t
really get enough attention, shooting after editing. Especially nowadays with the boxfighting-heavy
building meta we have, I’d guess about half of my shotgun shots come immediately after
I make some kind of edit, so definitely an important thing to try to learn. Finally and
maybe most important for controller players, these sentrys are probably the only prop in
the entire game that give off realistic aim assist. A lot of different aim training maps
that claim to be “aim assist friendly” use props that either give way stronger aim assist
than normal or way weaker. Luckily that isn’t the case with these sentries so if you’re
on controller this is perfect. The next section of this course that I really like is this
kinda reaction-based flick shotting section. Again you’ll be placed into an area with a
wall in front of you, to your left, and to your right, and on all 3 walls there will
be little circular buttons that light can up. And once you start the minigame a random
button will start to glow red for about 1-2 seconds before a different button starts to
glow, and your goal is obviously to shoot it before the light turns off. Now obviously
unlike the last minigame, these small buttons aren’t going to give you aim assist. However,
this drill is more about building reaction time and getting a feel for flick shotting,
and since flick shotting enemies gives you very little aim assist anyway, I don’t think
not having it here is that big of a deal. And even if you’re not specifically trying
to improve shotgun aim, I’d still recommend doing this drill for even as short as 2-5
minutes before you play just to kinda get your brain and fingers going. The other option
that I would recommend if you’re alone is playing team rumble. There’s not too much
I can say about this so I’ll keep it short and simple, team rumble gives you an opportunity
to get into about 10-20 times the amount of gunfights compared to a regular solos, duos,
or squads game. Also since players typically run around with a low amount of materials,
you won’t see too many over-builders so you can more so focus on pure aim practice. Plus
it’s actually a surprisingly fun change of pace from playing regular battle royale since
you can kinda chill and not be forced to go super try hard, so definitely a nice option
for playing alone. Now let’s get into the best ways to practice
and improve your shotgun aim if you have a friend with you. The first thing I’d suggest
is something called “shotgun edit dueling” that I actually first saw online by a user
named “Grandwhish.” The basics of this little game are pretty simple but it’s also really
effective, and you only need 1 other person willing to play for it to work. So basically
both players will have only a shotgun in their inventory and player number 1 will build a
1×1 around player number 2 who will be forced to stay inside of it. From there, player number
1 who has ownership of all the walls that make up the box will make edits and try to
hit shots on and hopefully eliminate player number 2. Now obviously being player number
1 here with edit control over all 4 walls is an absolutely massive advantage, so you
wanna frequently switch roles to make this more fair. So I think this is a good way to
practice shotgun aim for a a variety of reasons. Much like the moving bots game I showed at
the beginning of the video, shotgun edit dueling puts a major emphasis on shooting after editing.
And since you’re facing a real player that has the potential to do a lot of damage back,
you’re gonna have to be more smart with the edits you choose and how you use your movement
to navigate around them, which are also very important skills for shotgun fights. Also
I like the fact that this exercise puts you in a position if you’re player number 2 where
you’re forced to try to win a fight where your enemy is going to have a major advantage,
because they’ll be able to make edits while you can’t. No matter how smart of a player
you are, there are gonna times where you’re gonna find yourself in terrible positions
like this, it’s simply unavoidable. Maybe your enemy is able to place a cone or ramp
inside your box before you can, so now there’s really nothing you can do but take the 50/50
shotgun fight and try to win it. Definitely another important skill to learn and this
is going to help you practice. Another option to train pure shotgun aim when playing with
a friend is something I showed in a video maybe a month ago called aim dueling. There
are plenty on different maps out there for this but I prefer to use Kroaders version
of it. And the premise of aim dueling is very simple, you and your friend edit down into
a fully boxed in 1×1 are that you can’t escape from, you both have either 1000 or 2000 health
depending on the map, and you shoot each with the same weapon until 1 player gets eliminated.
Now players more commonly aim-duel with SMGs, but if you’re trying to practice your shotgun
aim it works just as well with a pump or a tac instead of a P90. Out of all the methods
of practice I’ve showed in the video, this one is definitely the best for pure aim training.
You don’t have to worry about building, editing, or even reloading, it’s just constant movement
and trying to hit high damage shots on your friend who is doing the same thing. And the
final suggestion I’ll make even though it’s noting revolutionary at all is playing box
fights/zone wars. I mentioned in the beginning of this video that regular battle royale isn’t
great for improving shotgun aim, but box fights/zone wars on the other hand are much better. Sure
you’re gonna have to deal with way more editing and building compared to something like an
aim training course or pure aim duel, but it’s good to do that every once in a while
to see how your improved aim translates into a much more realistic in-game scenario. Also
I think we all can admit that playing box fights/ or zone wars with friends is more
fun than shooting at robots, so doing a combination of both of those things is probably your best
bet in the long run. So I hope you guys enjoyed this video and
if you watched the entire thing be sure to let me know with a comment down in the comment
section below. I want you to rate your own personal skill when it comes to shotgun aim
out of 10. I would personally say I’m about a 7.5-8 and I’m interested in hearing about
you guys. Be sure to leave a like, leave a comment, subscribe, turn on post notifications,

  31. My shotgun aim is a 2-4 on bad days and a 6-9 on good days. When I'm on a roll I hit 200s multiple times in a row

  32. Don't forget Switch

  33. I really don't now why I'm watching this I switched to mouse and keyboard like a weak ago

  34. Anybody know gronky sensitivities and stuff?

  35. Also how how are you still abusing aim assist with ar cuz it don't work for me

  36. Thank you for this map like really

  37. Im probably a 5 or a 6 at landing shots with a shotgun. I'v been improving by using training maps created by Teadoh aswell as making it my mission to box fight after practicing everyday. Im on console so I definitely feel im at a disadvantage compared to PC players in public creative lobbys but even so I feel like going against those players helps me stay sharp – 1 missed shot or a few scuffed edits or allowing your wall to get taken is all it takes to get bodied.

I gotta ask: how many freaking PC players are actual GODS at Fortnite? It seems like near everyone of them to me lol

  38. Its shit its good its shit its good. Looks good to me why people bitching about the last update?!

  39. Simple, use aim assist. 🙁

  40. "I'll include the code to the map on the screen somewhere"

    GronKy: Uses his creator code:

    Me: lmao smh whyyyy lol

  41. 4.5 i either have amazing or no aim i play on linear

  42. Im a xbox player and my shot gun aim is like solid 8 on there but I'm practising ps4 and shot gun aim about 6 watch out boiis on leaderboards for Dono_FN

  43. I just switched to linear and I’ve been hitting a lot more shot gun shots

  44. Can someone please tell what skin this is @4:06

  45. Another thing, your vocal inflections are crazy dude. Like the way you enunciated "robots" at @9:22 was hilarious. Started watching for to console specific videos and how informative you are. The way you deliver your videos has just been a plus lol.

  46. Anybody trynna do this with me

  47. Kinda not fair for you to go on console and play in the ps4 cup doesn’t give normal people a chance

  48. Guys Im telling you this right now, work on your tracking not bots barely jumping up and down, tracking is by far the BEST way to improve your aim, if you have a hard time hitting headshots. Look for maps on youtube that work on tracking, NOT FLICK SHOTS. I have been doing this for a while and WOW it s really good. Good luck yall ✌🏽

  49. Where do u find these games in creative. ?

  50. I’m probably a 5.5-6 out of 10 definitely room for improvement but I can can get the job done

  51. Gronky has aim bot

  52. About 4-5 i miss to many shorts and this is probobly going to help me so thx, keep up the good worl bro

  53. Bruh I been doing the 1 by 1 in a box where someone edits for almost 7 months now gtfo her COPYRIGHT!

  54. shotgun aim 0 🙂 add me my epic is prestonplays10

  55. I switched to linear and at first hitting pump shots for max damage was more common. I played with my buddy's last night and one had to eat so he killed himself and watched me, he watched my die to a guy because my pump was doing 30 something to the guys head, PERFECT headshots, blue pump, 3 shots off because I was editing on this guy and he didn't know what was happening. Idont even think I broke his shield with 3 blue pumps to the head. I died to smg spray from two of his teammates who caught up to us.

  56. Why do you cover the same subject so many times? I literally thought I was watching an old ass video because this is literally the same video as like 5 other ones you’ve made

  57. U wont be able to play if ur on higher than 60fos and on a pc

  58. 5.5 to a 7 and I stopped using aim trainers and such in season 8 because I felt like my aim couldn't get any better

  59. Bro you already have a pc and a big youtube channel you are going to take money from someone who wants to get a pc or someone who really needs the money that is so messed up

  60. Watch this on 1.5 Speed.

  61. I dare you to make a 9:59 minute video

  62. Fort nite needs to fix the game literally up close headshots I hit for 30-40 but when I’m like 10 feet apart from the enemy I hit for like 150

  63. I can't build or aim like before because my fps was 60 now it's 30

  64. 4.5 out of 10 because I probably miss around 50% of my shots

  65. Can someone tell me if you can change the button for carrying on controller

  66. bloom: so you have chosen death

  67. My shotgun aim is actually terrible maybe because i change sensitivites every 2 days or because i don't practice it enough

  68. What's is the map code

  69. Jumpshotting + tactical shotgun + zigzag = 80% success rate for me

  70. My shotgun aim is probably a 5

  71. Mine is a 4/10. I’m gonna use some of this Gronky. Thank you. I always try to keep my distance because of my terrible shotgun game

  72. 4.5/10 (on console) 7/10 (controller on pc)

  73. My shotgun aim is definitely a solid 5 out of 10..somehow still manage to get into a game with syperpk, ninja, tim, and nate hill…

  74. This man is the ItsJerian for controlla playas

  75. Thank you gronky for not forgetting about us console players even after you switched to pc. One of the few who legitimately remembers his roots. Thank you!

  76. This guy is so bad. He still L2 spams.

  77. damn if you're a 7.5 I'm not a 7 like I thought. 5.5-6 probs. Nice flicks and builds though. You don't do to much flashy stuff and honestly that's the way to play, just like xunknown. #CODEGRONKY

  78. 3:54
    Gronky Said
“The next thing about this courth”
    Lol

  79. I’d say I’d be a 7 or so as well. Flick shots are easy to me as I’ve grown up on borderlands with no aim assist. My straight line shots like jumping off a ramp to see the enemy thats a level up needs to be improved. But thats more so taking a good guess where they are at on the roof/high ground

  80. Gronky if yr aim is 7.5 then mine is 8 but in negative

  81. Shady Gronky at it again with another video, you are NOT a console player.

How about you make a video how you stay at rank 100 even though you play 24/7 “no life” this game.

  82. Please help! SBMM is broken. Me and my buddy have 1.0 KDR and we constantly are matched with 3.0 – 5.0 players

  83. Im a 6.0 to a 6.5 I'll w key you if you arn't careful!!!!!
