Liverpool news : Sky Sports pundit reveals surprise at what Man Utd and Liverpool have done

Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham have all made it into the last eight of Europe’s elite club competition  Manchester United overcame Paris Saint-Germain, pulling off a shock 3-1 win at the Parc des Princes last week  That win put Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side through on away goals, with the game level at 3-3 on aggregate  Liverpool went into their second leg against Bayern Munich with the match goalless after the first match at Anfield  But Jurgen Klopp’s side won 3-1 at the Allianz Arena thanks to a brace from Sadio Mane and a vital header from Virgil van Dijk  Former City midfielder Howey admits he was surprised all four English teams made it through – especially United and Liverpool  “I didn’t think four [would make it through to the quarter-finals],” he said on Sky Sports News  “Man City kind of got through pretty comfortably in the end. “But I thought Manchester United and Liverpool would struggle  “Not because of any weakness on their part, it’s just the actual teams they were playing  “And obviously for Man United to go across to PSG and to get the result that they did and yesterday’s game, wow, nobody expected 3-1  “Look, Bayern aren’t the same team as what they were, but to go there and to win 3-1 is an awesome result ” An English side has not won the Champions League since Chelsea in 2012. But Howey believes there is a great chance one will come out on top this year  “We’ve got a very good chance [of an English club winning the competition],” he continued  “It will be interesting to see what the draw is tomorrow, so I’ll be watching that, I’ll be tuning in  “We’ve got a very good chance.”
