– 2018 Asian Games – Official Line-up After 36 years, the Philippines will send
a women’s volleyball team to the Asian Games. There are 11 teams competing for the Gold
in Indonesia. The Philippines is bracketed in Group A with
Thailand, HongKong, Japan and Indonesia. Group B includes South Korea, China, Chinese Taipei, Kazakhstan, Vietnam and India According to coach Shaq de Los Santos there is a chance for the Philippines to get wins
against Hong Kong and Indonesia. He hopes the team succeeds in the group stage. However, a podium finish is not realistically
expected of the squad. The team being in the ASIAD is to learn and
be exposed to the high level of play from Asian neighbors specifically China, Japan,
South Korea and Thailand. These countries are in the World rankings
of women’s volleyball. The Asian Games is a preparation for the squad
for the Asian Women’s Volleyball Cup in September and ultimately for the 2019 ASEAN
Games that will be held in the Philippines. The team aims for a medal in the homeland. They have a two week training in Japan with before they fly to Indonesia. The First game of the Philippines is against
