Top Gun: Maverick (2020) – Real Flying. Real G-Forces. Pure Adrenaline.

After 34 years, Tom Cruise returns as Maverick. This is a competition film about family, friendship, and sacrifice. It’s a love letter to aviation. We’re going to show you what it’s really like to be a Top Gun pilot. You just can’t create this kind of experience unless you shoot it live. In order for us to accomplish this, we have the greatest fighter pilots in the world working with us. We’re working with a brand-new camera system that allows us to put six IMAX-quality cameras inside the cockpit with the actors. It’s amazing what we see in the cockpit and what an audience is going to experience. Thanks to Tom, all the actors are becoming accustomed to the G-forces by all the training that they’re doing. It is aggressive. You can’t act that, the distortion in the face. They’re pulling seven and-a-half, eight Gs. That’s 1,600 pounds of force. I am so proud of them and what they’ve done. And it is heavy-duty. Putting us up in these jets, it’s very serious. That’s why everybody thought it would be impossible. And I think when Tom hears that something’s impossible, or it can’t be done that’s when he gets to work. Flying one of these fighter jets is an absolute thrill ride. We want to make sure that the audience has the same experience. An aviation film like this has never been done and chances are it will never be done again.

  1. This is definitely one of those movies where you definitely want the bonus features

  2. Does he know how to fly one of those by himself!!???!!???

  3. With @prattprattpratt just take my money! Love that they include Admiral (USN ret) T..J. Cassidy, Mr. Cassidy delivered one of the best lines in the 1986 film: "if you screw up just this much, you'll be flying a cargo plane full of rubber dog s&$# outta Hong Kong!" *Maverick and Goose all smiles, "
    Yes Sir! Perfect!

  4. @1:49 & @2:26
I seem to remember it being done around 1986… all the aircrew actors in the original film went up for real and the flight footage in the first Top Gun film was real… (baring shootdown sequences for obvious reasons)

  5. Please make this a oculus quest experience!!!!!!!!!

  6. God seeing this brings back memories of when I was stationed on an aircraft carrier and seeing those jets take off and land. CV-63 baby lol

  7. Also, Mav I'd like to know …. what's the motivation for using the F-A18 Hornet?

  8. Tom cruise is the best actor is Hollywood. Actually does his job and stunts and takes risks. He is the ideal candidate for movies like this and mission impossible etc etc

  9. I fell the need…the need for no CGI!!!

  10. Tom Cruise is looking really good for 57, he looks like he is in his 30s

  11. LOL. That part at the very end 😀

  12. It will be something imposible. Can't wait.

  13. thank you so much for this! I was worried that you guys were going to use a lot of CGI

  14. Wait! They let the actors to fly the real jets by themselves? :V

  15. At one point. Tom. Should have said. Great balls of fire.

  16. Even from the backseat, Maverick looks badass

  17. Money went to his head Mr Power tripper

  18. Tom Cruise looks fantastic!

  19. "Viejito" loco!
Cuidate por favor, sos la última mega estrella que nos queda.

  20. Anyone Got That Lovin’ Feelin in their stomachs right about now?

  21. Maverick ho yes my channel name

  22. I knew it, Tom did it, well how about a space film next time? Kidding.

  23. God bless you Tom, what amazing things you do

  24. Beautiful image of flying, big sound, actions, ok, i am in 🙂

  25. I would probably pass out but damn that would be a ride

  26. Typical for a sequel, star of original movie isn't in it.
Sequels typically never meet the expectation set by the original movie

    No Tomcat
    No watchable movie

    DAMN BUGS!

  27. Tom Crusie live Legend! ?

  28. https://youtu.be/5Bc_t8sn_Bs

  29. Jesus, for a moment I thought, "Wait, is he actually flying an F-18?!" Which would be insane because these are $30 million planes that require years of training and certification to operate. But no, he's in the back seat of a two-seater while the real pilot is up front actually flying. Looks real, though, when you splice in footage of a single-seat F-18 banking and stuff. Still impressive, though.

  30. Old school film making that understands how to take the audience with you by doing it for real. If you want the boring version of this, one watch Stealth.

  31. Jerry was on the first top gun, i kinda feel assured now

  32. I wish I could fly in one

  33. May be a dumb question but he isn’t really flying the jets is he ?

  34. Seriously?
Why do I have the feeling that Hollywood is just recycling stuff, reselling it over and over again.

  35. Wait is tom cruise flying one of these

  36. Top gun is part of the reason why I joined the Navy

  37. Tom Cruise is a weirdo now but I'll go see this movie. Looks good.

  38. At 33 seconds the green jersey guy have the squadron VFA-125 stenciled on the jacket. That's a training squadron for the F-35. The F-35 might be in the film.

  39. OK, cut . . . looks like Maverick barfed again.

  40. Fucking love Tom Cruise!!!

  41. Why does this look like it's going to actually be really fucking dope?

  42. Its not only a love letter to aviation, its a love letter to real handmade movies as well. Movies with real scenes and without cheep and hiddious looking CGI parts.

    Thanks a lot for that.

  43. How can I get a ride !

  44. That's great and all but to me, I can't unsee the fact that these actors are all riding in the 2nd seat. Pretending to be in a single person cockpit.

  45. 0:18
    34 years?!
    Damn Tom ?

  46. The real question is what their safety net is if these actors are actually flying the jets by themselves.. What if they pass out? lol

  47. THIS IS GOING TO BE AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  48. Me before seeing this: hyped, but worried that they'll go CGI for the purpose of safety and efficiency
Me after seeing it: HELL YEAH, THEY'RE STAYING TRUE TO THEIR ROOTS, REAL HONEST TO GOD F18 FLIGHT

  49. Fuck me this looks good

  50. Does anybody know the song at 1:08 ??

  51. hopefully this kind of movie would exceed 1 billion.

  52. So rooster is gooses son

  53. Prob dumb question but are they actually flying the jets or are they in the backseat of a 2 seater jet

  54. 2:22 is some of the sickest shit I've ever seen!

  55. It's very dangerous, sacrificing your team/crew for the sake of entertainment & MONEY! That's greed & stupid.

  56. очень круто

  57. This gonna be good as john wick

  58. he's starting to look like edward norton

  59. I would very much like Hollywood to do a biopic on Jared Fogle, the former Subway spokesperson and now convicted felon, roly-poly-boy-toy and daily punching bag for any number of his fellow inmates at the federal penitentiary in Englewood, Colorado. Perhaps it could be a musical. One of the numbers could be called "Smaller Pants," and two different versions could both open and close the production. In the beginning, Jared sings "I wanna get into smaller pants," in reference to his desire to lose weight by eating only veggie subs. At the end prior to his arrest, as he's flying around the country molesting children, he could sing the same line, but it would of course have a far more sinister meaning. Another number could involve a couple of parents going to the authorities to report that their pre-adolescent son has been victimized by Fogle. The song could be titled "He Went to Jared." You see, I'm a dead ringer for Fogle. We're talking "separated at birth" identical. Up until November, 2015 I had a fairly steady part time gig posing as him and entertaining at kids' birthday parties. For a reasonable fee, I'd provide the entertainment (balloon animals and showing the kids the former pants with a 48 inch waistline that "Jared" used to have to wear before he started eating Subway veggies subs everyday) and the food (a Subway platter). Needless to say, my tax returns for the past few years have shown a fairly significant reduction in income. My last gig was just after Thanksgiving in 2015. The people who had booked me had paid a deposit in advance, so they went ahead and had me come out with my balloons and five foot cold cut with six toppings on Italian herb bread. I ended up getting mauled by their German Shepherd who had been watching CNN a week or so earlier.

  60. eu tinha 10 anos de idade!!!! e agora vou ver de novo!!!!!!

  61. No VFX huh? ah!… marketing at its finest.
The devil is in the details.

  62. Ok, i'm hyped. Will be waiting for this in cinema, baby

  63. So this man does he own stunt and know how’s to fly a jet? Coollll

  64. What's your Tom Cruise favorite movie ? Comment Below !

  65. มึงขับเองเลยเหรอวะลุงทอม สุดยอด

  66. That whos my childhood movie ….i cant wait to see this one

  67. A director for movies going to show us how to be a real pilot …. i'd rather study properly in a proper school sir

  68. Please please keep the CGI next to nothing, and use models for missiles or planes blowing up.
You amazed audiences 30+ years ago with them a pissed off the Navy making them think you fired real missiles.

A sequel as to a movie as beloved as top gun, a movie that helped put Tom, Val and Jerry careers in the spot light deserves this

  69. So glad they dropped this trailer. Too many morons out here saying everything is CGI.

  70. WHO CARES IF TOM’S NOT ACTUALLY FLYING, lol—You kiddin me? The fact that Tom’s even in that while it’s airborne in real time is INSANE. Props to the production crew for keeping it??and not rely on CGI alone for air sequences. I seen the original back in the 80’s and it’s probably going to be just as campy, cheesy or whatev—But watching those jets strike real G forces gets my adrenaline pumpin. Que the music let’s do this!

  71. RIP Goose and RIP the Tomcat

  72. I'd shit my pants for sure.

  73. 321 turn it loose

    Gets me every time

  74. Wanna see climate change in action 2:30 we went from full desert to full snowy in 0.3 seconds climate change guys its real

  75. this video made me smile. Of all remakes, sequels, etc., to have come out in recent years, this is probably going to be the only one that's not junk

  76. This is gonna be amazing in IMAX

  77. This is real film making. This movie will do very well, much better than that Disney Star Wars bs.

  78. His acts are so real, Oscar should win a Tom Cruise.

  79. 2 days before my birthday ! NOW THATS WHAT I CALL A BIRTHDAY PRESENT! ??

  80. Tom really fly the fighter?! OMG!it’s so cool!

  81. 75" Sony 4K and Dolby Atmos, I think I broke some windows. This man has some serious personal issues but you have got to give it to him, he is amazing and at 57. There will be the naysayers about this movie but this film is a Rock Star.

  82. They all—Cruise included—look way too scared/unable to handle the G’s. I think this will be a criticism and point of distraction in the film.

  83. Hell yeah. Tom cruise is the man. I don't care if he was made in a lab in Tel Aviv. This is incredible.

  84. Mad respect. In this day and age of CGI, I'm so glad that THIS movie is using so much practical effects! Can't wait to see this movie!

  85. I cannot wait until this is out.. We will be there !!!!
